LIVING AND WORKING REMOTELY FROM GREECE
The Greek Digital Nomad Visa allows persons who work entirely remotely to live in Greece, along with their families.
Greece is become a highly popular destination for digital nomads, not only due to its Mediterranean climate, charming beaches, picturesque villages, vibrant cities and rich culture, but also (and mainly) due to its affordable cost of living compared to a good quality of life, paired with an actively developing digital infrastructure.
Non- European Union citizens wishing to live and work remotely from Greece require a special visa and/ or residence permit.
Aiming to welcome and facilitate Digital Nomads, Greek Immigration Law allows Non- European Union citizens working remotely with the use of digital technology to apply for a visa and subsequently a Greek residence permit for Digital Nomads.
Digital Nomads, are persons who earn a living working online or remotely from a location of their choosing (instead of a fixed business location).
Digital Nomads, for the purposes of the Greek digital nomad visa, are citizens of non- EU countries who are self- employed, freelancers or employees, who work remotely with the use of information and communication technologies, with employers or clients established exclusively outside Greece.
Digital Nomads desiring to work remotely from Greece may apply for an entry visa, valid for a duration up to 12 months, provided that:
The Digital Nomad may be accompanied by their family members, which include their spouse and children under the age of 18 years old.
The minimum amount of income required is 3500 euros per month. This income may be proved either through employment or service agreements or through the applicant’s bank statements.
Where the applicant is accompanied by their family, the minimum income required is increased by 20% for the spouse and 15% for each child.
After entering in Greece with the visa or when the applicant already lives in Greece, it is possible to apply for a Greek residence permit, which is valid for 2 years and may be renewed thereafter.
Long periods of absence from Greece do not affect the validity of the Residence Permit, provided that they do not exceed six months per year.

Despite the many advantages offered by Greece, the Greek bureaucracy may be challenging especially for foreigners.
